CPU holds memorial service for the late Dr. Carmen P. Santos

Gathered for a commemorative photo opportunity are among the many individuals who were close with the late Dr. Carmen Pama Santos.

Celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Carmen Pama Santos, Central Philippine University held a memorial service on March 12 at the University Church. The gathering was attended by a community of students and staff members who shared fond memories of the late educator’s profound impact on the institution.

The service commenced at 4:00 PM with a somber prelude performed by the CPUES Rondalla team, setting a reflective tone for the afternoon. Following the music, the serving liturgist, Engr. Vitini Edhard Idemne, delivered a call to celebration. Drawing from Psalm 34:18, he reminded the congregation that the Lord remains near to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit. This opening segment concluded with the congregational singing of the hymn of assurance, “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”

The program continued with an opening prayer led by Dr. Florence P. Bogacia, Vice President for Finance and Enterprises. Ms. Carmella Frances S. Romero then provided a scripture reading of the 23rd Psalm, which was followed by a poignant musical tribute titled “He’s Already in Your Tomorrow”, performed by the CPUES family.

The event then transitioned into a dedicated period of reflection on the life and legacy of Dr. Santos. Several individuals who worked closely with her shared personal memories and expressions of gratitude. Former CPU President Dr. Teodoro C. Robles recounted her years of leadership and service to the school, followed by tributes from the CPU Board of Trustees, including Chairman Hon. Matt P. Palabrica and Corporate Secretary Dr. Elmer Q. Pedregosa.

These testimonials were followed by a special musical offering from the CPU Basic Education family.

Rev. Dr. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, Senior Pastor of the University Church, delivered a message of comfort before the presentation of a video tribute. The video highlighted the various milestones of Dr. Santos’s life, showcasing her unwavering dedication to her loved ones and the university.

The service drew to a close with the hymn Constantly Abiding and a final benediction led by Rev. Sian, accompanied by a postlude from the CPUES Rondalla team.

Central Philippine University expresses its heart-felt sympathies to those she left behind. Dr. Santos’s journey was one of profound dedication, and while the campus mourns her passing, it also celebrates the light she brought to so many. Her memory will remain a guiding force for the students and teachers whose lives she so selflessly improved.
