The Computer Science Society (CSS) successfully conducted its outreach program, “AI Quest: AI for Kids – Discovering Artificial Intelligence,” at USWAG San Isidro Elementary School (USIES) on March 25, 2026. The initiative introduced artificial intelligence concepts to 103 Grade 6 students through interactive and engaging learning sessions. This effort supports the organization’s commitment to promoting technological literacy and community education.
The event was organized by the Computer Science Society, with the support of CSS officers, staff, and student volunteers, in collaboration with DEVCON Iloilo Kids and USIES Principal Ma’am Irene Dalida. The program was further guided by CSS Outreach Coordinator Mr. Rodolfo Eregia Jr., ensuring its alignment with educational goals and outreach standards.
The program formally began with an opening prayer led by CSS Creatives member Ryza Bagurio, followed by opening remarks from the Vice President for External Affairs, Janrickz John Babac. The introduction set the tone for an engaging and educational experience centered on artificial intelligence.
The core of the program consisted of five (5) structured learning sessions. The first session was facilitated by CSS Media Staff Kristine Joelle Tenefrancia, who introduced basic AI concepts and their real-world applications. This was followed by the second session led by Treasurer Ramon Miguel Sanchez, who further explored AI through interactive discussions and activities designed for young learners.
Throughout the sessions, students actively participated in activities that demonstrated how AI works in everyday life, making complex concepts accessible and enjoyable. The program emphasized hands-on learning and encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration among participants.
AI Quest is a free, interactive educational program designed to teach middle school students about artificial intelligence through engaging, real-world challenges. The initiative successfully created an environment where students could explore technology in a fun and meaningful way.
In addition to the learning sessions, the Computer Science Society provided food and drinks for the students, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout the program. Each participant was also awarded a certificate of participation in recognition of their active involvement.
The outreach concluded with closing remarks from CSS President John Vincent Ceralvo, who acknowledged the efforts of all organizers, partners, and participants, followed by a closing prayer led by Event Coordinator Gian Angelo Tumulak.
AI Quest achieved its goal of introducing artificial intelligence to young learners, reinforcing CSS’s dedication to community outreach through technology-driven education.
