CPU Republic’s “Isang Banig, Isang Bayan” outreach at SOS Children’s Village Iloilo wove creativity, care, and community into a day of hope and unity for children and youth.

On February 28, 2026, CPU Republic, in collaboration with the Outreach Students’ Volunteer Society and the Province of Education Student Council, held its outreach program “Isang Banig, Isang Bayan” at SOS Children’s Village Iloilo in Zarraga, Iloilo. The program combined art, service, and care, giving children and youth a fun and meaningful day while promoting unity, creativity, and kindness.

The day started with a short hygiene talk, teaching the children proper handwashing, personal hygiene, and self-care. They also received hygiene kits to support their daily health needs.

Next, the children were introduced to basic art concepts, learning about colors, shapes, and patterns. Each participant created their own artwork, which was later assembled into a banig (woven mat). This activity showed how everyone’s unique ideas and creativity can come together to form something beautiful and united.

The outreach also included a donation drive for and basic necessities, making sure the children’s practical needs were met alongside their creative and emotional development. Activities like these gave the children a space to feel included, confident, and valued, while also helping student volunteers practice empathy, teamwork, and compassion.

“Isang Banig, Isang Bayan” reminded everyone that community is built through small acts of kindness and caring.

Every smile, every brushstroke, and every shared moment showed that no one stands alone, and everyone belongs. Through this outreach, CPU Republic and its partner student organizations demonstrated that when people come together with purpose and heart, they can bring hope, joy, and unity to the lives of others.
