“Some leaders will try to make you think that they are important, but the best leaders will help you see why you are important.” These insightful words from Ingrid Vale Saquibal, RMT and Founder of Agalon, set the tone for the Voluntary Leadership Training Seminar (LTS) held on November 16, 2024. Bringing together student leaders from various organizations and fraternities, the seminar aimed to inspire, educate, and unite participants in their shared journey of leadership.
The event began with an air of anticipation as participants registered, eager to engage in a day designed to foster growth and connection. University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy opened the seminar with a powerful keynote address, emphasizing that true leadership is rooted in service, humility, and positive influence. His message encouraged participants to view leadership as more than a position of authority, but as a calling to uplift others.
This theme was carried forward by the Director for Student and Development Programs, who warmly welcomed the attendees and highlighted the collective nature of leadership. The induction of the Agalon Officers, led by CPUR Prime Minister Crisfe P. Vergara, added a formal touch to the day. Each officer pledged to lead with integrity and uphold their responsibilities, underscoring the values of trust and accountability.
Agalon Chairperson Niche Clarrise Jover followed with a heartfelt speech, sharing her experiences and encouraging her peers to embrace teamwork and collective success. Her words reminded participants that leadership thrives not in individual achievement but in empowering others to succeed.
The seminar’s highlight was the series of inspiring talks by distinguished speakers. Ingrid Vale Saquibal expanded on her powerful quote, sharing her journey as the founder of Agalon and offering insights into leadership rooted in humility and service. Her talk encouraged attendees to focus on making meaningful changes in their communities.
Social worker and faculty member, Mr. Sarex Dipol Jr., provided a fresh perspective on leadership through the lens of community service. His practical examples illustrated how understanding and addressing the needs of others is at the heart of impactful leadership. Meanwhile, Certified Public Accountant and former CPUR Senator, Mr. Phileo M. Bais, delivered a hands-on presentation on financial management, equipping participants with essential skills for sustaining their organizations.
The afternoon session shifted to lively team-building activities that tested participants’ leadership, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Through interactive challenges, students strengthened bonds, practiced collaboration, and applied lessons from the morning sessions. Laughter and camaraderie filled the venue, creating an atmosphere of shared purpose and determination.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks by CPUR Senator Fred Henrieck Casanare, who thanked everyone for their enthusiasm and commitment. He reminded participants that leadership is a lifelong journey of growth and service, leaving them inspired to take their learning forward.
For the student leaders who attended, the Voluntary Leadership Training Seminar was more than just a day of workshops and speeches—it was a transformative experience.
