Mykiell Deovenn Pagayonan and Hans Gabriel Daduya, students from the Software Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at Central Philippine University (CPU), proudly represented the Philippines at the prestigious Solana Breakpoint 2024. The event took place from September 19 to 21, 2024, at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, gathering developers, industry experts, artists, students, creators, and entrepreneurs from around the globe to delve into the advancements in blockchain technology and Web3 within the Solana ecosystem.

In May 2024, Solana Superteam Philippines initiated a call for student nominees to attend the event. Following a rigorous selection process, Pagayonan and Daduya were endorsed by several prominent figures at CPU, including Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, President of Central Philippine University; Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, Vice President of Student Affairs; Engr. Mary Earl Daryl A. Grio, Dean of the College of Engineering; and Engr. Romarie Jhoanna C. Eder, Chairperson of the Software Engineering Department. Their endorsements led to their selection as two of the ten student delegates chosen to participate.

The students’ travel, hotel accommodations, and registration for Solana Breakpoint 2024 were generously sponsored by the Solana Foundation and Solana Superteam Philippines, ensuring that they could focus on learning and networking at this significant event.

Pagayonan and Daduya’s participation in Solana Breakpoint not only highlights their dedication to exploring innovative technologies but also showcases CPU’s commitment to fostering talent in the ever-evolving field of blockchain and Web3 development. As they engage with industry leaders and peers, they embody the spirit of innovation and collaboration that Central Philippine University encourages among its students.
