With lessons learned and leadership strengthened, student leaders and attendees pose for a group photo to commemorate Athaganay 2025.

On July 16, 2025, the Central Philippine University Republic successfully held the Strengthened Athaganay ACT 2025 at the Educational Media Center and New Valentine Building. With the theme “From Potential to Impact: Guided by Faith, Driven to Serve,” the event brought together over 130 elected officials from various Local Government Units (LGUs) for a full day of impactful leadership training, governance workshops, and skills-building sessions anchored on student empowerment and ethical public service.

This year’s Athaganay featured an extensive lineup of workshops designed to strengthen the capacities of Centralian leaders in the field of student governance. These included UniGov and Parliamentary Procedures, Student Grievance and Letter Writing, Budget Requests and Liquidations (Pananagban), University Outreach Procedures, Basic Social Media Management, Project EMS (Events Management System), and the RSR Kit (Ready, Set, Respond) training. Participants also attended a Resolution Writing Workshop, a retrospective session titled “What’s in the Act?” —which highlighted key legislated acts by CPUR over the years — and a discussion on the CESA Act.

To round off the event, delegates participated in a CPUR Quiz Bee and a Mock Legislative Session that tested their knowledge, critical thinking, and application of parliamentary rules. Workshop speakers brought clarity, relevance, and strategy to each topic. The sessions were facilitated by: VP Esther Rose Romarate (Student Grievance and Letter Writing), VPSE Treasurer Ma’am Delia Ciriaco (Pananagban), CESL Director Sir Sarex Dipol (Outreach Procedures), Sir Moshe Molina (Basic Social Media Management), Former CPUR VP C-Sar Mart Aguirre (UniGov and Parliamentary Procedures), Ms. Ro-Anne Lozada (Project EMS), Ms. Jie-Ann Ausmolo (RSR Kit), Mr. Emman Rey Saquibal (Resolution Writing), Former Prime Minister Ms. Crisfe Vergara (What’s in the Act?).

Athaganay 2025 was not only a training seminar; it was a celebration of student leadership committed to growth, service, and accountability. It emphasized that effective governance begins with a grounded understanding of the systems we work within, strengthened by the values we uphold. More than just preparing leaders to serve in office, Athaganay equipped them to lead with excellence, empathy, and ethical grounding.

This success would not have been possible without the hard work of the organizing committees who made every detail, from logistics and documentation to creative design and technical support, run seamlessly. Their passion and teamwork made the event not just organized, but truly meaningful.

As we move forward in this academic year, may the lessons from Athaganay 2025 continue to guide our elected officials, not just in words, but in action, in every session they lead and in every student they serve.
