The SNED Society showcases its parol entry, “The Guiding Star of Inclusion,” during Parolandra 2025, highlighting faith, creativity, and advocacy for inclusive education at Central Philippine University.

The Special Needs Education (SNED) Society officially represented the College of Education during the university-wide Parolandra 2025 competition held on the 5th of December 2025, presenting a parol entry titled “The Guiding Star of Inclusion.” The event gathered various student organizations across Central Philippine University, highlighting creativity, faith, and advocacy through traditional Filipino lantern-making.

The SNED Society’s parol stood out for its strong symbolism and environmental consciousness, as it was meticulously crafted from upcycled wooden craft sticks and wrapped in shimmering metallic gold yarn. At the center of the design was the Holy Family Nativity scene, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to Exemplary Christian Education for Life (EXCEL) and reflecting the true spirit of the Christmas season rooted in faith and service.

Designed as a radiant guiding star encircled by a comprehensive ring, the parol symbolized the Society’s mission to promote total inclusion and student welfare. The central light represented learners with special needs, while the surrounding structure emphasized collective support, unity, and advocacy within the academic community. Through this design, the SNED Society conveyed its vision of an inclusive educational environment where every learner is valued and empowered.

More than a decorative piece, “The Guiding Star of Inclusion” served as a powerful visual statement of the SNED Society’s core values: service, compassion, and hopeful unity. By merging artistry with advocacy, the organization demonstrated how creative platforms like Parolandra can be used to raise awareness and reaffirm the university’s commitment to inclusive education and holistic student development.
