The lecture was attended by students from the College of Engineering, faculty and staff members of the university.
The Review, Continuing Education and Consultancy Center (RCEC) in collaboration with the College of Agriculture, Resources and Environmental Sciences and College of Engineering, presented a Lecture on “Identifying Water Quantity and Quality Problems, Understanding their Causes and Finding Solutions to the Problem” on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the Engineering Audio-Visual Room.
The lecture was conducted by Dr. Remegio Confesor Jr., Social Research Scientist from the National Center for Water Quality Research at Heidelberg University, Ohio, U.S.A.
The Guest Speaker was introduced by Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, Chairperson –CARES Department of Agricultural Engineering and Environmental Sciences. Dr. Romallosa invited dr. Confessor during the Centennial Celebration of Dingle Elementary School, Iloilo. Romallosa and Confessor were both Centennial Awardees of the elementary school.
Dr. Romallosa collaborated with the College of Engineering and RCECC to co-sponsor the lecture as soon as Dr. Confessor confirmed his schedule.
The speaker finished his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1989 and a Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1997 both from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños, Laguna. He obtained his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Pennsylvania State University in 2004.
He has a track record in securing project funding as project director, principal investigator and co-principal investigator in numerous collaborative and interdisciplinary scientific projects totaling at least USD4.5 million.
He is an author and co-author of numerous and relevant scientific articles in peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Confesor is affiliated with the American Water Resources Association; American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering among others. He obtained the highest score in the Philippine Professional Agricultural Engineering Licensure Exam in 1991.
