As part of the requirements to meet the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification, Central Philippine University Quality Assurance Center conducted a management review meeting from February 26 and March 1, 2021.

Central Philippine University Quality Assurance Center (QAC) conducted the 26th Management Review Board meeting on February 26 and March 1, 2021.

Management reviews are requirements to meet the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). As an ISO-certified institution, Central Philippine University holds said meetings at regular intervals throughout the year.

During the meeting, CPU Officials and Administrative Unit Heads reviewed its Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness while addressing the possible need for changes to quality policy, objectives, targets, and other elements of the QMS.

University Church Senior Pastor Rev. Cris Amorsolo Sian led the devotional during the first day of the meeting followed by the opening remarks given by CPU President Dr. Teodoro C. Robles.

The presentors for the first day were Dr. Ma. Rosalene J. Madero, Engr. Dimpna C. Castigador, Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, Dr. Irving Domingo L. Rio and Dr. Florence P. Bogacia.

QAC Director Dr. Ma. Rosalene J. Madero gave the Rationale and Overview of the meeting, as well as minutes of the last meeting (held last August 14, 2020) and the status of actions from the previous management review.

Changes in external and internal issues relevant to the quality management system were presented by the Office of Institutional Advancement Director Engr. Dimpna C. Castigador.

In her report, Engr. Castigador talked about the possible changes in the context of the university due to the pandemic. She discussed the global trends as well as challenges and opportunities from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) brought about by the pandemic.

The reports of the respective Vice Presidents for Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs, and Finance and Administration touched on customer Satisfaction and feedback from relevant parties, the extent to which their office quality objectives have been met, process performance and conformity of products (programs) and services, monitoring and measuring results, the effectiveness of actions taken to address risks and opportunities, continual opportunities for improvement, and review of their office’s risk/opportunity register.

Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate reported that student-related cases and complaints elevated to her office have been 100% acted upon. The implementation for the Activities and services of the Student Development and Programs Office will be fully implemented by July next year. Other matters she also discussed were student-athletes, work students and university clinic and dormitory services.

Some of the topics discussed by Dr. Irving Domingo L. Rio, Vice President for Academic Affairs were about the maintenance of CHED Autonomous status and the university’s national ranking as well as increased linkages with national and international institutions and improved board/ bar performance of students. He also reported on the highlights of academic activities conducted by the university this year namely the CPU Emerging Research Network International Research Conference 2021 (held on February 23-24) and the Development and Launching of the CPU Institutional Digital Repository, Bahandian (held last Feb. 15).

Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Florence P. Bogacia gave a status report of the university’s finances as well as financial performance as of December 31, 2020.

The first day ended with a prayer led by Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on.

Prof. Rodel Palomar, Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) Director led the Opening Prayer for the last day of the meeting.

The presenters for the last day were Prof. Rodel C. Palomar, Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on, Mrs. Novi B. Pascua, Dr. Ma. Rosalene J. Madero, and Dr. Teodoro C. Robles.

Prof. Palomar was also the first presenter for the day. The overview and main topics for his report were also the same as those of the respective Vice Presidents.

HRDO’s Director discussed about the adequacy of resources, resolution of relevant issues or conflicts brought to their office as well as accreditation requirements for Academic Unit Heads and Faculty.

Office of Communications Director Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on reported on customer satisfaction and feedback from relevant parties (other stakeholders), monitoring and measuring results, review of the office’s risk/opportunity register.

Rev. Jalando-on talked about concerns on the security of the university’s two servers. He also reported on the server’s increased performance in the 4icu.org Philippine University ranking. CPU is currently 19th in the national ranking and 1st in the regional ranking. He also discussed the office’s initiative in creating forms for online requests of school records as well as the increased number of queries in the university’s online platforms.

Lead Quality Auditor Mrs. Novi B. Pascua’s report touched on (internal quality audit), non-conformities and corrective actions, and review of the Lead Quality Office’s risk opportunity/ register.

Some of the matters discussed by Mrs. Pascua were about the internal and external issues of colleges, offices, and units as well as their opportunities for improvement.

Dr. Ma. Rosalene J. Madero, Quality Assurance Center Director’s report overview focused on audit results, university risk/opportunity register; changes, if any, in CPU Vision, CPU Mission, and Quality Policy; extent to which the quality objectives or university functional objectives have been met, adequacy and effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS).

She talked about the review of external and internal issues and action plans to address risks and opportunities as well as competence and organizational knowledge of programs, colleges, and offices.

Dr. Teodoro C. Robles delivered the Overall State of the University Address which was followed by the summary of the management review given by Dr. Madero.

The closing prayer for the last day of the meeting was led by Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate.
