On July 25, 2025, the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center (QAAC) of Central Philippine University (CPU) conducted a QA Mentoring Activity at Filamer Christian University (FCU) with the theme, “Setting the Mechanism for Internal Quality Assurance in Higher Education: From Planning to Implementation.” The activity gathered university administrators, deans, and unit heads for a capacity-building session aimed at strengthening institutional quality assurance systems.

The CPU team—composed of Dr. Anna May T. Zerrudo, QAAC Director; Prof. Sharlene Gotico, Associate Director; and Ms. Novi Pascua, Internal Lead Quality Auditor—served as mentors and facilitators throughout the one-day activity. With full support from the CPU administration, the initiative underscored CPU’s role as an autonomous university in mentoring other higher education institutions (HEIs) to advance academic excellence and organizational effectiveness.

Dr. George O. Cortel, President of Filamer Christian University (4th from R), receives his Certificate of Appreciation alongside CPU and FCU delegates following the successful QA Mentoring Activity.

In his welcome message, Dr. George O. Cortel, FCU President, emphasized the value of inter-institutional collaboration in achieving sustainable quality assurance. The sessions covered topics such as QA Essentials, QA Key Implementers, and Internal Quality Assurance Mechanisms. Each session was followed by an open forum, allowing participants to raise questions, share insights, and contextualize QA practices within FCU’s unique institutional setup. Discussions focused on aligning institutional goals with QA frameworks, mapping the roles of internal stakeholders, and developing practical tools for implementation and documentation.

Through this activity, CPU reaffirmed its commitment to mentoring fellow academic institutions and promoting a strong culture of quality in Philippine higher education.
