The Province of Arts and Sciences Student Council, in partnership with the Association of Political Science and Public Administration – CPU, College of Arts and Sciences and Land Transportation Office Region VI, conducted a 2-Day, Free 15-hour Theoretical Driving Course in Central Philippine University on February 16-17, 2023, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium.

Dr. Teodoro C. Robles, University President, opened the event which was attended by approximately 300 Centralian Students, CPU Faculty and Staff and distinguished guests and lecturers such as RD Eric Lenard E. Tabaldo from LTO Region VI; Public Safety Office Head Jeck Conlu; Representative from the Office of the Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon; Mr. Eric Otayde from the team of lecturers; Dr. Stella G. Fernandez – CAS Dean; and Mr. Joshua Jacinto, who proposed and initiated the program.

The 2-day lecture tackled various topics such as the do’s and don’ts when it comes to road and driving, basic etiquette and road signages as well as laws related to road and driving.
After a thorough process, one hundred percent of the total attendees were able to pass and were given certificates of completion. The certificates issued will be beneficial to obtain a student-driver’s permit with the Land Transportation Office.

The Province of Arts and Sciences Student Council through the 2-day Free 15-hour Theoretical Driving Course, aims to provide an opportunity for students to learn and have a professional license for driving in the near future, and educate them on how we can contribute meaningfully to our community by being responsible student-drivers. It also aims to establish a positive relationship with the community and promote social awareness outside the four corners of the classroom that will equip them in the real world setting.

The Free 15-hour Driving Course was the first at Central Philippine University.
