On December 5, 2025, the CPU’s Modern Interactive Digital Artists Society partnered alongside the Computer Science Society to bring forth the joy and gift of Christmas to the pupils of Judith Lazarraga Tiongco Memorial School. One of the main aspects of the program was geared to foster not only a sense of community but also an environment where everywhere—not only inside educational institutions—can be an outlet where creativity is nurtured and ever-flowing.
The outreach posited an art workshop, teaching children how to apply basic fundamentals of art and coloring using different techniques and styles. Pupils were encouraged to explore the world through vibrant and unapologetically whimsical spectacles.
Judith Lazarraga Tiongco Memorial School didn’t spare any creativity as the kids displayed insurmountable wonder and curiosity. Such cases were present throughout the classrooms where kids approached the program with no less enthusiasm and excitement—as to the staff’s expectations—that remained undiminished from the late morning through the early afternoon.
The outreach began with exercises for the body and mind, loosening up the room with renditions of songs and dances for the kids to move to. Games such as “Color Scavenger Hunt” fueled the room with laughter and jubilation. Late afternoon followed onto the art workshop, easing from the chaotic yet fun festivities to a more chilled exercise; undoubtedly, the kids showed excellence in manifesting creativity into paper. Following suit was face painting where kids lined up to have their favorite characters painted. Finally, the kids were given Christmas gifts consisting of materials such as coloring books, crayons, and pencils that welcomed smiles and euphoria.
The value of art and expression becomes evident in these rooms of untapped potential. In a world where phones engulf routines that depreciates the appreciation for artistry with regard to their willingness to achieve such heights—the goal of this outreach was met positively. These kids were great examples of how artistry manifests regardless of age. That guidance shatters the mirage of self-doubt and the indifference to art. Every color, every stroke of a pen, every erasure is a principle of improvement.
