Pastor Morales joins the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs during the open forum in the College Freshmen Orientation.

Challenge accepted with an open heart for Central – Pastor Alfred C. Morales received his written appointment as Acting Director of the Student Development and Programs Office (SDP) from the university president Dr. Teodoro C. Robles on August 11, 2023.

The following week, Pastor Morales was tasked with his first assignment as the SDP undergoes the CHED onsite monitoring and evaluation visit on August 15 while on August 17, he was invited to participate in the College Freshmen Orientation Program open forum. As accommodating as he is, he readily and satisfactorily answered questions pertaining to scholarships and student organizations.

He expressed, “Praise God for the opportunity during the College Freshmen Orientation of answering queries during the Open Forum pertaining to scholarships and student organizations and giving some words of wisdom to tip the balance between maintaining scholarships while at the same time taking on co-curricular activities or joining in organizations, etc. Let God be praised, indeed! By God’s grace, done ace with the open forum!”

Still on August 17, the start of the grant distribution of the CHED Tulong Dunong Program under the Tertiary Education Subsidy (CHED TDP-TES) was spearheaded by the SDP and partner teams from the Registrar and Business Office contingent through giving the said grants to the 632 TDP-TES recipients held at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park (APCP).

The 632 grantees are composed of the 610 grantees of CHED-TDP under the Tertiary Education Subsidy for the First Semester of SY 2022-2023 and 22 grantees of the Tertiary Education Subsidy for the Second Semester of SY 2022-2023.

It was a two-day grant distribution to students and a handful of college graduates of CPU. Pastor Morales welcomed the grantees and reminded them to value the grants given to them by using them wisely in their education. He also emphasized that with God, nothing is impossible as we keep the faith and never give up on our dreams in life until we realize them.

Pastor Morales, fondly called “Palf” by his friends and colleagues, succeeded Dr. Margen A. Java who retired from service this year. The SDP is under the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. It assists students with the following: scholarships, student organizations, and student competitions.

Congratulations on your appointment, Palf! Praise God!
