Brig. General Custodio J. Parcon Jr. hands his Medal of Valor to CPUAAI President Engr. Isagani J. Jalbuena.
Brig. General Custodio J. Parcon Jr., a CPU alumnus, donated his Medal of Valor to Central Philippine University during the Alumni Homecoming and General Assembly on September 28, 2019 at the Rose Memorial Auditorium.
Parcon was one of the seven Alumni Achievers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) who were honored during the said event. He finished his kindergarten and secondary education from CPU in 1970 and 1980, respectively. He graduated from the Philippine Military Academy class in 1987.
The Medal of Valor is the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ highest military honor awarded for a conspicuous deed of personal bravery or self-sacrifice above and beyond the call of duty that distinguishes the recipient from his comrades. There are only 41 Medal of Valor recipients since 1935. As of the time of Parcon’s donation, there are only four of them in active service. A few days later, on September 30, 2019, Brig. Gen. Parcon retired after more than three decades of fruitful military service.
