Last February 18, 2026, six preservice teachers qualified for an international internship met with Central Philippine University President, Rev. Dr. Ernerst Howard B. Dagohoy at the Board of Trustees Conference Room. The meeting was also joined by the Local and International Linkages and Affiliations Center (LILAC) Director, Asst. Prof. Lesley L. Dignadice, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Merle L. Junsay, OIC Dean for the College of Education (COEd), Dr. Maredil R. Ambos, and COEd Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) Coordinator, Asst. Prof. Maristel D. Decio.
The College of Education continues to strengthen its internship collaborations with partner universities in Indonesia and Vietnam. This academic year, two preservice teachers are bound for Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI), and another two student interns are bound for Tra Vinh University (TVU) under the Commission on Higher Education’s International Affairs Services (IAS). Moreover, two preservice teachers will hold their one-month internship at Dong Thap University (DTHU), Vietnam, under SEAMEO’s SEA-Teacher Program.
The preservice teachers assigned to UKI are Shanine Joy Peniero (BSEd-English) and Marvilou Jean Cudo (BSEd-Math); to TVU are Generev Agutaya and Shinmarie Aprylle Checa (both BSEd-English majors); and to DTHU are Johanaly Arana (BSNED) and Christian Mark Fenequito (BSEd-Science). Together with their parents and guardians, they attended the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) on the same day organized by the LILAC office.
COEd’s international internship initiatives demonstrate CPU’s steadfast commitment to global collaboration and student development. By providing opportunities for aspiring teachers to engage in diverse professional contexts, these programs cultivate their growth and prepare them to become globally competitive educators.
