CARPET OF OPULENCE: House Hygieia dazzles in their finest as they make a stunning entrance down the ‘Opulent Ambitions’ red carpet. Their radiant smiles and sophisticated attire embody the bold dreams and glamorous vision shaping the future of Medicine.

In a dazzling display of elegance and style, the medical students of Central Philippine University graced the red carpet at the Diamond Ballroom of Eon Centennial Hotel and Water Park for this year’s Med Night: Opulent Ambitions, held on September 14, 2024. Inspired by the glamor of Crazy Rich Asians, the night was a celebration of sophistication and camaraderie.

The festivities began with a warm welcome from the Governor of the Medicine Student Council, Mr. John Jayson Dalona, and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Henry Gonzales. The atmosphere quickly became lively and friendly, especially with the fun game of Crazy Rich Balloon Poppers, which saw participation from students of Omnia Vincit (MD-3), Vita Servitium (MD-2), and Invicti Mentis (MD-1). A delicious dinner followed, energizing the Griffins for the evening ahead.

Each batch brought comical and captivating performances to the stage. The juniors performed an engaging song and dance number, the sophomores surprised everyone with an impromptu flash mob, while the freshmen reenacted a climactic scene from the film, followed by a sensational medley.

In line with the evening’s theme, the Respite’s House Sorting, inspired by Avengers: Infinity Stones, took place. Houses Aceso, Hygeia, Iaso, and Panacea cheered loudly as they welcomed new members into their alliances with tokens of appreciation. Last year’s Respite awards were also presented, with House Aceso taking the championship, followed by Iaso, Hygeia, and Panacea in second, third, and fourth places, respectively.

Raffle prizes, courtesy of sponsors, were given out between program segments to lucky students from each batch. The night concluded with the announcement of Angelo Pabalinas (MD-2) and Sam Danielle Estrellanes (MD-1) as the King and Queen of the Night, perfectly embodying the spirit of the evening. As Kevin Kwan aptly said, “Remember, every treasure comes with a price.” May the opulent ambitions of these hopeful Griffins be realized, turning their dreams into reality.
