Rogen Aguirre, pride of Central Philippine University and of the City of Love.
Rogen Aguirre, a varsity and a member of CPU Golden Lions Athletics team, bagged the first place in 10,000 meter run with a time of 34 minutes and 15 seconds and placed top 4 in 3,000-meter steeple chase during the 2nd league of SEA Games 2022 Performance Trial by (PATAFA) Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association on March 24 to 25, 2022 held at PhilSports Complex, Pasig City.
Rogen was the only member of Central Philippine University Golden Lions Athletics team who was given an invitation by (PATAFA) Philippine Athletics Track Association on February 8, 2022. The 1st league of SEA Games Performance Trial was held on February 24 at the Baguio City Athletic Bowl wherein Rogen performed in the 3,000-meter steeple chase event and was qualified on the top 6 among the 9 participants from other provinces and cities. Rogen then willingly extended his stay in Baguio after he received an advice by the Philippine team coach to stay for more trainings as a preparation for the 2nd league, since it would be more advantageous for him to train in a high altitude place.
According to Rogen, from one of his Facebook’s posts, “Walang imposible basta pursigido at determinado” (Nothing is impossible as long as you are persistent and determined). He also extended his appreciation to all the people who make his dream possible, especially to his family, his number one supporters, and coach Jan Cayabyab, who went in the venue to witness his game.
After more than one month of staying in Baguio and Pasig City for the trainings and performance trial games, Rogen finally went home in Iloilo City on March 29, 2022. Now, he is still training at the Iloilo Sport Complex to continue the journey that he has started.
