On July 12, 2024, the Central Philippine University (CPU) community celebrated its much-anticipated University Fun Day 2024 with the theme “Teamwork, Camaraderie, and Healthy Competition among Colleagues,” held at the University Gym.

In cooperation with the Human Resource Development Office, CPU Faculty Union, and CPU Rank & File Labor Union, the event was eagerly participated in by faculty and staff, bringing forth a spectacle of entertainment and community spirit. Employees were divided into 8 groups of colors, which are blue, yellow, red, green, violet, orange, pink, and white.

The red team posed for a picture together with CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy.

The event kicked off with the registration of team members at the CPU Alumni Promenade Concert Park. Followed by a dance parade led by the Fun Day Committee, each team showcased their dancing skills amidst the rain. Different team colors adorned their vibrant costumes, displaying their creativity and team spirit.

“The bottom line this afternoon, let us all have fun and let us get physical. Again, welcome to this year’s fun day,” Dr. Irving Domingo L. Rio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said during his welcome remarks.

One of the highlights of the event was the variety of fun games organized for all teams. From caterpillar balloon relay to more high-spirit activities like Swiss ball, dodge ball, and kick ball. Each team member showcased their agility and sportsmanship, competing with enthusiasm and occasionally displaying their hidden talents.

Beyond the games and food prepared, Fun Day 2024 also provided an opportunity for employees to connect outside of their usual offices and work. Conversations flowed freely as colleagues mingled, forging new friendships, and strengthening bonds. Indeed, it was a chance to unwind and recharge in a relaxed setting, away from the pressures of daily academic life.

The event concluded with the awarding of cash prizes headed by CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy and HRDO Director Dr. Rodel C. Palomar. The winning teams that excelled in the said Fun Day were the blue team (3rd place), the orange team (2nd place), and the pink team (1st place).

This event shows how CPU values its employees, reminding them of the importance of work-life balance, and continuing to build strong relationships within the academic community with the intersections of Scientia et Fides.
