Strengthening leadership through Mabuhay Central: A transformative experience for CPUR and LGU officials.

The Central Philippine University Republic (CPUR) recently conducted the Mabuhay Central as an official segment of the 2024 “Strengthened Athaganay” at the Educational Media Center on July 27, 2024. This innovative initiative, inspired by the FBSE training seminar for CHM Students, aimed to enhance the leadership skills of CPUR and LGU officials through workshops focusing on emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, public presence, and inclusivity.

In collaboration with the 2024’s “Strengthened Athaganay”, this project brought together student leaders and local government officials for a transformative experience. The event featured a compelling one-hour presentation that delved into crucial aspects of effective leadership in today’s diverse and dynamic environment.

At the heart of the Mabuhay Central was the goal to instill the values of “Mabuhay” a Filipino greeting that embodies warmth, hospitality, and graciousness. The program aimed to cultivate these qualities in all student interactions, ensuring that our leaders not only excel in their roles but also create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all.

We were fortunate to have Prof. Dianne Hope M. Pilien, a distinguished professor from the College of Hospitality Management, as the keynote speaker for this event. Prof. Pilien shared valuable insights and personal experiences, expertly weaving together the principles of effective leadership with the importance of maintaining a strong Christian foundation. Her presentation was particularly impactful as she emphasized how Christian values can enhance leadership qualities, promoting empathy, integrity, and service. All crucial elements of the “Mabuhay” spirit we aim to embody.

As we reflect on the success of the Mabuhay Central, it’s clear that this initiative has laid a strong foundation for nurturing compassionate, effective, and inclusive student leaders. The integration of Christian values with leadership principles has provided our officials with a unique perspective on service and community-building.

The Mabuhay Central has set a new standard for leadership training at Central Philippine University, blending cultural values, Christian principles, and modern leadership skills. As we move forward, we anticipate seeing these newly honed skills translate into action, fostering a more vibrant and harmonious campus community. The spirit of “Mabuhay” is now not just a greeting, but a guiding principle for our student leaders, promising positive impacts for years to come.
