Nogra crowned as Mr. CAS 2024 – A Triumph of Talent and Determination.

Krisvimar Nogra, a 21-year-old resident of Pontevedra, Capiz, and a second-year Bachelor of Arts in Communication student from the CPU Communication Circle, was crowned as Mr. CAS 2024 at the recently concluded Mr. and Ms. CAS 2024 competition held at the Rose Memorial Auditorium last March 2, 2024.

Nogra bested 16 other contestants from various departments within the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) to claim the coveted title. The competition involved talent presentations, interviews, and a series of rigorous challenges that tested the contestants’ intellect, wit, and social awareness. The panel of judges for the competition included prominent figures: Ms. Vanessa Tse Wing, Miss Universe Philippines 2023 – Guimaras; Olivia Hernandez, Miss International Queen Philippines 2023 – Iloilo Province; and Nicklyn Jutay, Binibining Pilipinas 2024 – Iloilo. Their expertise and experience undoubtedly contributed to the selection of a deserving winner.

The journey of Mr. Nogra’s victory was marked by dedication and perseverance. Drawing from his experiences in class recitations and his passion for rap, he navigated the competition with ease, impressing both judges and audience alike.

“I’m glad my frequent urges to answer questions in class came as an advantage because during the casual interview I just kept on saying that “this is a class, this is a graded recitation, calm down, and make sure you answer properly,” Nogra said.

However, the road to success was not without its challenges. As a first-time pageant participant, Nogra faced the daunting task of balancing multiple responsibilities, from mastering choreography to perfecting his talent performance. Yet, with determination and resilience, he overcame every obstacle that came his way.

“I had to think about picking up choreography for the production number at a fast pace since the final rehearsals were the day before the event. I have to nail my talent performance because I always brag about my prowess in rap,and I have to perfect my pasarela walk. It was a lot of things all at the same time, but spoiler alert– I got through it,” Nogra said.

Behind his triumph stood a robust support system comprising friends, mentors, and family members who offered unwavering encouragement and assistance. From classmates to senior members of the CPU Communication Circle, each played a pivotal role in Nogra’s journey to victory.

“Of course, my comforts, Ave, Drie, and Julianne, who even at the lowest point of my prep journey, when I was already on the verge of calling it and backing out, would always assure me that they have the confidence that I would take it,” Nogra said.

Financial considerations also posed a significant challenge, but with the support of his brother, Nogra navigated the expenses involved in participating in the competition, ensuring that his focus remained on preparation and performance.

“I have fought a lot of battles, and I have suffered a lot of losses. I will continue to do what it is that I do, and make you see my star on the rise, because it matters not where I am placed, my shine will always come through, and you will hear this panther growl,” Nogra said.

Looking ahead, Nogra is poised to represent the College of Arts and Sciences in the upcoming Mr and Ms CPU 2024 competition, where he aims to continue his journey of empowerment and inspiration. With a message of inclusivity and resilience, he hopes to inspire fellow students to embrace their unique qualities and pursue their dreams fearlessly.

“Let us always put to mind what one of my idols in the K-Pop industry said; if you don’t fit in today’s beauty standards, become a new, and a different standard,” Nogra said.

In the end, Nogra’s victory serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and self-belief. His journey from a shy, soft-spoken student to a crowned champion exemplifies the transformative potential of stepping out of one’s comfort zone and embracing new opportunities. As he prepares to embark on the next chapter of his journey, Nogra leaves behind a legacy of empowerment and inspiration for generations to come.
