The CPU Biological Society, along with faculty and staff, commemorated the legacy of Doc Nicolas Guanzon and welcomed new members to the department.

The CPU Biological Society and the Life Sciences Department gathered at the Educational Media Center on August 27, 2024, to celebrate the retirement of Doc Nicolas Guanzon as Department Head of the Life Sciences Department. The event, held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, was a heartfelt tribute to a cherished mentor and teacher. Doc Guanzon’s passion for teaching and commitment to research in the field of biology have inspired countless students to pursue careers in the sciences.

The tribute featured opening remarks by Dean Stella G. Fernandez, followed by heartfelt recollections from colleagues and former students. Many praised Doc Guanzon for his unwavering support, his ability to make complex topics approachable, and his lasting impact on their lives. Beyond his academic contributions, his legacy includes the advancements he made in the department and the countless students he inspired.

In addition to honoring Doc Guanzon, the program introduced the new faculty and staff members who will be joining the Life Sciences Department for the First Semester of the School Year 2024-2025. The new members bring a diverse range of expertise and skills to the department, ensuring its continued excellence in research and education.

As the department embarks on a new chapter, the community gathered to express their gratitude to Doc Guanzon for his invaluable contributions and to welcome the new faculty members. With a spirit of both farewell and anticipation, the event marked the end of one era and the beginning of another for the Life Sciences Department.
