Historic 2024 Bar Exam ‘Salubong’ marks a milestone for CPU-College of Law, as students, faculty, and alumni come together for the first time to celebrate and support aspiring Centralian lawyers on the last day of #BarNiJLo2024.

The first-ever CPU-College of Law Bar Exam ‘Salubong’ was held on September 15, 2024, bringing a festive close to #BarNiJLo2024. Nearly a hundred Centralian Lawmates—comprising students, faculty, and alumni, came together for this momentous event.

The celebration was organized by the College of Law Senior Order of Kalantiao for School Year 2023-2024, under the leadership of Chairperson Albert Jan Matthew A. Java. The organizing team includes Louvelle J. Gonzales, Vice-Chairperson for Finance; Cyna Angela Louise C. Lupera, Vice-Chairperson for Logistics; Cataline Lucille M. Aquio, Vice-Chairperson for Information; John Denver P. Alayon, Vice-Chairperson for External Affairs; and Krishia Mei Elloran, Vice-Chairperson for Internal Affairs.

Chairperson Java expressed his gratitude to the Bar Ops volunteers, saying, “I am greatly thankful for the spirit of volunteerism that you have shared, to those who donated their resources, to those who gave their time and effort, the sleepless nights, others even sacrificed their academics at one point. I could not thank you more,” he said in an interview.

CPU-College of Law hosts a ‘Salubong’ dinner, where bar examinees, faculty, administrators, and volunteers posed for a photo to celebrate the successful 2024 Bar Exams at CPU.

The day concluded with a Salubong dinner, a special event that united examinees, students, faculty, and alumni in a celebration of their shared achievements. The evening was honored by the presence of CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy and Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate. Held at the Henry Luce III Library, the dinner offered a relaxed setting for attendees to reflect on their bar exam experiences and deepen connections within the community.

The CPU College of Law extended its thanks to those who contributed to the successful bar operations this year via its official Facebook page, stating: “The CPU Administration, through our University President, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard Dagohoy. Thank you for the support and encouragement. […] The entire Centralian community who sacrificed their convenience during the entire period of the bar examinations. We are grateful that CPU is a testing site because it has contributed to the confidence and comfort of our examinees. We are excited and proud to showcase CPU to the country.”

The Salubong, meaning “welcome” or “meeting” in Filipino, was designed to ceremoniously conclude the bar exam period. It creates a supportive environment for examinees to transition from the intense pressures of exam preparation to the next stage of their legal careers, celebrating their achievements and providing encouragement for their future journeys.
