GSC – CLSE members and event organizers at the Alumi Promenade and Concert Park.

Central Philippine University Guidance Services Center in partnership with Community Engagement and Services Learning Center held a Gift-giving activity at the Alumni Promenade and Concert Park on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 8:00 in the morning to 12:00 noon, with the theme “Give Love on Christmas Day.”

The Outreach Day activity which is done every year by the GSC and CESLC involved CPU Elementary School pupils who are engaged in Student Enhancement Activities for Life (SEAL Class). This time they distributed baskets of groceries to 40 grade 1 students from Lanit Elementary School of Jaro, Iloilo City together with their parents. Also gifted with baskets of groceries were 48 security guards of CPU. The parents were given a Mental Health Training conducted by Prof. Jade Ermitaño.

A picture exhibit of outreach activities of the different colleges was held at the promenade.
The program started with an opening prayer by Ms. Geraldine Louis Pador, BSMLS – 1. Pastor Justine Palmes-Mije, Associate Pastor for Campus Ministries gave a Devotional Message focused on the greatest Christmas gift. She asked the children what gift they would like to receive this Christmas, then emphasized that “the greatest Christmas gift is Jesus who brings us peace, joy and love.”

University President Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy and VP for Student Affairs Esther Rose A. Romarate gave their welcome remarks. Dr. Dagohoy welcomed the children and their parents. He shared the meaning of Christmas and the love that the University is giving them through the outreach activity. Dr. Romarate acknowledged the visitors and thanked the organizers led by Ms. Jessalyn Fetalsana, Guidance Services Center Coordinator and the CESLC.

Asst Prof. Marisa C. Dy Buco and CESLC Officer in Charge Sarex Dalida Dipol, Jr. gave the rationale and background of the activity. OIC, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Stella G. Fernandez delivered the closing remarks. Ms. Janna Dennise R. Benoman led the Closing Prayer.
The program was hosted by Ms. Kimberly Mare O. Amara – BSN 1 and Ms. Patricia Marheal J. Amargo – BSN 1.
