Khazandra Ypil, a first year BSBA student of Central Philippine University, was one of the Philippine delegates to the 28th World Championships of Performing Arts in California, USA from July 28 to August 6, 2023. She won a Silver medal for her Operatic song performance; a bronze medal for her Pop song entry and a Summer Program Scholarship of 1,000 dollars for her Broadway performance entry.
Khazandra expressed inspiration for her pop song entry “Never Enough” — “I looked forward to perform better than yesterday; I pushed myself to perform better, I never entertained disruptions.”
The Centralian student who represented Visayas in the Parade of Nations segment of WCOPA, hails from Semirara, Antique. According to her, “it was the biggest delegation the Philippines ever had in the annual WCOPA.”
The Philippines not only brought more than 100 contestants to the WCOPA, but a lot more of experiences from their country that could have given them opportunities.
Speaking over Bombo Radyo’s Good Morning Philippines program – from San Francisco, California, Khazandra said, “It is my pride to fly the Philippine flag with my international participations very soon.”
