Centralians, guided by the Central Spirit, have always shared a bond that extends beyond the 24-hectare campus. Even after parting ways with CPU, alumni carry not only cherished memories of the University but also a profound sense of belonging rooted in shared values and traditions. As they build lives and careers across the globe, maintaining meaningful connections has become an ever-growing challenge.
This reality became evident in the tenure of Federation of Overseas Alumni Associations (FOAA) President Lee Plagata, when officers began organizing the global alumni reunion in Toronto, Canada. Coordinating alumni from different countries revealed a clear gap that there was no centralized platform dedicated solely to CPU alumni. While Facebook and Instagram hosted numerous alumni chapters and groups, discussions were scattered, making focused and sustained engagement challenging.
From this realization emerged the vision for the CPU Alumni Website, a dedicated digital space designed exclusively for Centralians worldwide.
The website was created to serve as a focused online portal where alumni can reconnect, network professionally, and support one another beyond geographical boundaries. It aims to be a community hub where Centralians can stay updated on alumni activities, assist fellow alumni during overseas travels, exchange career advice, and collaborate on projects that benefit both the University and the wider alumni network. The team behind the initiative emphasized starting small, with a commitment to refining content and presentation as the platform grows.
Careful planning followed the decision to bring the website to life. A communications team was formed to assess available resources, content strategies, project costs, and long-term maintenance needs. Partnerships with CPU and other alumni chapters were explored, but when these efforts did not materialize, the team chose to move forward independently. Guided by determination and shared purpose, they embraced a grassroots approach and built the platform step by step while keeping a long-term vision in mind.
The development process was not without challenges. With limited experience in web development and graphic design, the team initially sought volunteer support, only to realize that a project of this scale required sustained professional commitment. Progress gained momentum when David, the son of a FOAA team member, entered into a formal contract with FOAA to design the website’s framework. His contribution provided a strong foundation for a user friendly, well structured, and easy to navigate platform.
As the website continues to evolve, team members are actively learning the technical aspects of online publishing to ensure that content is engaging without compromising site performance. Administrative roles have been assigned to monitor activity, manage content, and respond to inquiries so alumni concerns are addressed promptly. Alumni are encouraged to communicate with the team through info@cpualumni.com.
Today, the CPU Alumni Website offers features such as an alumni directory, career placement opportunities, product advertising, reunion planning resources, and direct links for easy access to updates and information. More importantly, it extends an open invitation to Centralians everywhere to join the community online at https://cpualumni.com/. The website has also been incorporated into the official CPU website https://cpu.edu.ph/; to access it, go to the About Us section and look for CPU Alumni, located between Presidents and Central Songs.
By registering and engaging with the platform, alumni become part of a growing digital community where connections transcend geography, achievements are celebrated, and a culture of giving back anchored in the Central Spirit is strengthened. Through this initiative, FOAA envisions a dynamic and enduring alumni network that honors CPU’s traditions and values while inspiring present and future generations of Centralians to remain connected, engaged, and grounded no matter where life takes them.
