If you’re passionate about delving into the world of business, accounting, management, or finance, the College of Business and Accountancy at Central Philippine University provides an inspiring academic environment where you can hone your skills and prepare for a successful career.

The CPU-College of Business and Accountancy offers a range of programs in fields like Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management (BSBAFM), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management (BSBAMM), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource Management (BSBAHRM), Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, and Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting.

“CBA students are actively participating in various organizations, such as the Provincial Board, Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs (ACE), Council of Advertising Practitioners (COAP), Financial Management (FIMA), Junior Marketers’ Association (JMA), Junior Management Association of Management Accountants (JPAMA), Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA), and Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES),” said Dr. Lorna T. Grande, Dean of the CPU-College of Business and Accountancy, in an interview.

Dr. Grande also shared that the College of Business and Accountancy was formerly known as the College of Commerce, which was established in 1935 and initially offered the Certificate for Associate in Commercial Science. In 1946, the college introduced the Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics and Finance. In 1975, additional programs were introduced, including the BSC major in Entrepreneurship, Management, Marketing, and BS Accountancy in lieu of BSC major in accounting. On April 1, 2006, the College of Commerce was officially renamed the College of Business and Accountancy.

Empowering future leaders of the College of Business and Accountancy: CBA student leaders rise to the challenge at the Phoenix on Top Leadership Training and Seminar.

“The BSBA and BSA programs underwent accreditation from Level 1 to Level 4 by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities – Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSCU-ACI). The BSA program was granted COD in 2012 and COE from 2016 to present,” Dr. Grande added.

It is also important to mention that the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) program is governed by an Admission and Retention policy and requires a grade of at least 90% from Senior High School for admission. Students enrolled in this program must meet the retention requirements in order to be retained. On the other hand, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource Management (BSBAHRM) is a newly offered program in compliance with CHED Memorandum No. 28, series of 2017.

“The CBA has had great achievements ever since. Recently, the BSA and BSBA programs were granted Level 4 Re-accreditation status by the ACSCU-ACI. It is not easy to maintain the Level 4 status due to some requirements. Centralian Romelyn Sarmoy Gabanto was a top 9 placer in the September 2023 Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, the faculty under our departments are Licensed Accounting Teachers granted by the Board of Accountancy and PRC. All CBA Faculty are holders of at least master’s degree and 45% are doctoral degree holders,” Dr. Grande emphasized.

In encouraging students to take part in the CPU-CBA family, Dean Grande emphasized the importance of being actively involved in the university community as a key aspect of their growth and development. She urged students to engage in activities that foster academic excellence, personal growth, and social well-being.

“Participate in every wholesome activity to be held by your student organizations and in CPU such as University Day celebration, Christ Emphasis Week, and many more. Develop your leadership skills. Showcase your talents. Build a harmonious relation among your classmates, teachers, colleagues and friends. Collect fond memories and cherish them. Let us work together for the success of our college. Always remember that you are special in the eyes of God. The Lord said in Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Beyond its academic accomplishments, CPU-CBA also prioritizes faith, distinguishing it from other institutions. This focus on faith enhances the overall educational experience and seeks to develop Centralians who are not only academically skilled but also spiritually rooted and dedicated to creating a positive impact in the world.

For students who wish to enroll in the above said programs under the CPU-College of Business and Accountancy, the CPU College Aptitude Test (CPUCAT) is now open for admissions. For more information, kindly access this link: https://cpu.edu.ph/cpu-college-aptitude-test-cpucat/
