CPU, through CPUGAD TBI and in partnership with the Wadhwani Foundation, successfully concluded the two-day Faculty Development Program on Technopreneurship and Entrepreneurship Education, empowering 21 educators from CPU and Aklan State University to champion innovation and entrepreneurship in teaching.
Central Philippine University – through CPUGAD TBI in partnership with the Wadhwani Foundation – successfully held the in-person sessions of the Faculty Development Program on Technopreneurship and Entrepreneurship Education on September 10–11, 2025, at Sapphire Hall, Sam’s 21 Hotel, and at the CPUGAD TBI Co-working Space.
The two-day training gathered a total of 21 faculty participants from CPU’s College of Engineering, College of Business and Accountancy, College of Computer Studies, and the College of Agriculture, Resources and Environmental Sciences, together with educators from partner institution Aklan State University.
Day 1 opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Merle P. Lorca-Junsay, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs. In her remarks, she encouraged the faculty to draw inspiration from the stories of ordinary people who became successful entrepreneurs, while also recognizing their dedication to completing the training. She emphasized the strong support of the CPU administration for this endeavor and expressed her hope that participating educators would, in turn, inspire their students to become visionary entrepreneurs. The day also featured virtual inputs from Mr. Dominador Dela Cruz of Lyceum of the Philippines University – Manila, who provided additional insights on select modules and engaged in an exchange of ideas with the faculty.
Day 2 was held at the CPUGAD TBI Co-working Space and began with the message of Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, CPU Acting Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, and Head of the Policy Development & Implementation Unit of CPUGAD TBI. She encouraged the faculty to embrace innovation and entrepreneurship as vital extensions of their teaching, underscoring the role of research and innovation in creating impactful solutions for society. Faculty teams then proudly presented their ventures, showcasing the application of their learnings from the program. Following this, CPU faculty alumni from earlier FDP batches also shared heartfelt testimonies, highlighting how the program had transformed their teaching and mentoring journey. Mr. Renjo B. Debil, Resident Entrepreneur of CPUGAD TBI, delivered a brief message on the value of entrepreneurship and innovation, inspiring the faculty in their teaching and mentoring. The day concluded with the message of Mr. Mark Gil D. Peraman, CPUGAD TBI Manager, who recognized the commitment of all participants and partners, expressed gratitude to the Wadhwani Foundation for this valuable opportunity to strengthen faculty capacity in entrepreneurship education, and gave an inspiring call to sustain this endeavor by embedding innovation and entrepreneurship more deeply into the university’s teaching and learning culture.
Across both days, the sessions were facilitated by Ms. Angelica F. Añabeza, Senior Associate of the Wadhwani Foundation, who guided participants through the modules, requirements, and venture presentations. Her leadership provided an engaging and practical learning experience, enabling the faculty to reflect, collaborate, and gain valuable insights for teaching and mentoring future entrepreneurs.
This milestone activity was made possible through the strong support of the CPU administration, the dedication of faculty participants from Central Philippine University and partner institution Aklan State University, and the invaluable partnership of the Wadhwani Foundation.
As this batch of training concludes, CPU and CPUGAD TBI reaffirms its commitment to further strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem by empowering educators to mentor future entrepreneurs, transform research into viable ventures, and contribute to meaningful job creation and societal progress.
