During the outreach program for Senior High School students in Dingle last April 19, 2024.

The Central Philippine University (CPU) Department of Languages, Mass Communication, and Humanities recently conducted an empowering outreach program for Senior High School students in Dingle, culminating in the turnover of outdoor concrete study tables and chairs alongside a lecture on the prevention and risks of teenage pregnancy. The event took place on Friday, April 19, and left a lasting impact on the students and community.

The highlight of the outreach program was the turnover of outdoor concrete study tables and chairs, which were generously donated by the department. These durable and practical furniture pieces were welcomed by the students and teachers alike, providing a comfortable and conducive space for outdoor learning and study sessions.

In addition to the turnover ceremony, the outreach program included a lecture on the prevention and risks of teenage pregnancy. Led by representatives from the college of nursing, the lecture aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of responsible behavior and informed decision-making. Topics covered included contraception methods, sexually transmitted infections, and the emotional and socioeconomic impacts of teenage pregnancy. The lecture provided students with valuable information and insights to help them navigate the challenges and pressures they may face during their adolescent years. It also encouraged open dialogue and discussion on sensitive topics, fostering a supportive and understanding environment within the school community.

The Department of Languages, Mass Communication, and Humanities at CPU remains dedicated to engaging with local communities and making a positive impact through outreach initiatives. By addressing important social issues and providing valuable resources, CPU continues to uphold its mission of service and excellence in education.
