March 9, 2026 (Monday) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development – Sustainable Livelihood Program (DSWD–SLP) conducted an orientation for the members and incoming members of the CPU-Arukahik Tailoring Shop and Training Center. This activity is part of the social preparation process of the government agency prior to the release of financial assistance for the University’s existing livelihood program.
During the orientation, representatives from the government agency discussed various guidelines on how to sustain the livelihood program. The participants were given basic knowledge on financial management, marketing, and strategies for sustaining the livelihood project, among other important topics. They were also guided in crafting the association’s vision, mission, and goals. In addition, the members elected their officers and formally named their organization the Arukahik Sewers Association.
The CPU-Arukahik Tailoring Shop and Training Center will also receive financial assistance from the DSWD–Sustainable Livelihood Program. The funding will be used to enhance the center through the purchase of additional machines and materials such as sewing machines, edging machines, embroidery machines, mannequins, and other essential equipment.
This social development initiative is one of the University’s concrete responses to poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, unemployment, and other social challenges faced by the country.
