CPU’s congratulatory post for Dr. Dimpna Castigador.
Last January 28, 2026, Central Philippine University (CPU) announced that Dr. Dimpna Castigador has become a Certified WURI Mentor (CWM). WURI, standing for “World University Ranking for Innovation,” assesses higher education institutions’ real contributions to industry and society. The ranking aims to “spotlight higher education institutions that excel in these innovative approaches, thereby inspiring advancements across the academic and societal landscape.”
CWMs, such as Dr. Castigador, serve as voluntary mentors and are expected to guide other universities on a pro bono basis in the preparation processes of high-quality innovation cases that impact their surrounding communities and societies at large. The CWM program recognizes individuals who particularly have a deep understanding of WURI’s philosophy and are committed to helping universities with innovative case submissions. Furthermore, active participation in WURI-related initiatives and strong dedication to fairness, neutrality, and professionalism are required of individuals in this program.
During an interview, Dr. Castigador said, “First of all, I am thankful to God for this opportunity to be considered as one of the Certified WURI Mentors. I am also grateful to our university president, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, and to the entire CPU community for their support.”
She emphasized that the university’s participation in WURI reflects the collective efforts of its stakeholders. “The participation of the university in WURI is a testament to the untiring efforts of its administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni in their pursuit of continual improvement and innovation,” she said.
Dr. Castigador also highlighted the role of the CPU KapitBayan Awards, one of the ways that the university recognizes innovative initiatives, in fostering a culture of creativity and engagement.
“I am humbled by this recognition, and I hope it will open opportunities to encourage other institutions to participate in WURI. The enthusiastic participation seen in the recent CPU KapitBayan Awards inspires me, and I hope this momentum continues as part of the university’s vision,” she added.
Dr. Castigador’s achievement has now aided Central Philippine University’s aggressive positioning on its drive for internationalization. This achievement shows the collective commitment of the university community to EXCEL for the total person and the world.
