Last January 27th, at the GrandXing Imperial Hotel, Dr. Maredil R. Ambos, EdD, DHum, FOPd, received the prestigious “Asia’s Hero in the Fields of Education and Humanities of the Year” award. Dr. Ambos, a native of Damayan, Sapi-an, Capiz, and renowned Professional Education Subjects Coordinator at Central Philippine University’s College of Education, was recognized for his unwavering dedication to shaping the future of education as an advocate.

Dr. Ambos humbly accepted the award, acknowledging his numerous contributions to the field. “It is truly an incredible feeling to be selected,” he shared in an exclusive interview. “It feels good to see your hard work, dedication, and efforts pay off. This award is both an honor and a responsibility, and I am deeply indebted to all who have supported me.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Ambos has garnered a multitude of accolades, including the Outstanding Motivational Speaker, Global Iconic Changemakers of the 21st Century awards, Educator of the Year Award & Students Choice Award, Distinctive Global Educator and Humanitarian Hero Award, Outstanding Alumnus of CPU in Education, Most Outstanding Educator & Influential Mentor of the Year and others. His impact on education and humanity has been widely acknowledged.

When asked about his inspiration, Dr. Ambos emphasized the influence of teachers. “As teachers, we serve as models and sources of inspiration for our students,” he remarked. “This realization motivated me to pursue a career in education and dedicate myself to humanitarian causes.”

He reflected on his college years, where he held leadership positions and earned numerous recognitions. He also highlighted his commitment to community involvement through projects like Diksyu-Crayola at Iba Pa and OPLAN Gwapo, Gwapa, aimed at promoting literacy and hygiene among children.

While acknowledging challenges in Asian education and humanities, such as limited budgets, corruption, and teacher shortages, Dr. Ambos remains optimistic. He views his award as a platform to advocate for change and inspire future generations.

“Recognition is a reward for consistency, dedication, and hard work,” he stated. “It doesn’t come to everyone, so keep working hard, strive for excellence, and inspire others. Be the change you want to see.”

Dr. Ambos continues to spearhead innovative initiatives like EduGraphinizer and EduToons, aiming to transform education within and beyond the classroom. His message to the youth of Asia emphasizes the power of education in shaping their future.

“Education is the most powerful tool you can possess to navigate life’s challenges,” Dr. Ambos asserted. “To be outstanding, you must learn to sacrifice, be true to yourself, and always remain grateful for your success. Remember, you too can be the change.”

With his unwavering dedication and passion for education, Dr. Ambos stands as a true hero, leaving an indelible mark on the educational landscape of Asia and beyond. His achievements serve as an inspiration to educators and students alike, reminding them of the transformative power of education and the importance of striving for excellence.
