The DOST-CPU CPUGAD TBI proudly participated in SalikSYNC: 1st National IMPACT Conference, held at Citadines Hotel, Bacolod City on November 6, 2025.
Representatives from the CPUGAD TBI team included Mr. Mark Gil Peraman (General Manager), Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa (Acting Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension of CPU and Head of Policy Development and Implementation Unit, CPUGAD TBI), Ms. Jomielyn G. The conference opened with a dynamic panel session featuring experts across disciplines, discussing best practices and collaborative approaches among academia, industry, and government. This was followed by a forum encouraging discussion on strategies to overcome challenges in research commercialization.
The Intellectual Property (IP) Management Program for Academic and Research Institutions Commercializing Technologies (IMPACT) aims to build the capacity of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Research and Development Institutions (RDIs) in technology transfer and commercialization. The program advances innovation-led growth by equipping institutions with tools for translating research into commercial products and services.
An exhibit of innovations and commercialization success stories from various regions showcased the achievements of participating institutions in advancing research-driven solutions.
Organized by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), SalikSYNC is the Council’s inaugural national event on intellectual property management. The conference highlights the transformative role of research and development (R&D) in achieving tangible societal impact, and was held in conjunction with the 9th National Technology Business Incubator (TBI) Summit.
During his keynote, DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr. emphasized translating research breakthroughs into societal benefits: “What good is a breakthrough if it never breaks through?” His call reflects the conference’s goal to extend innovations beyond academic circles to benefit the Filipino people.
By actively engaging in national initiatives like SalikSYNC, Central Philippine University and CPUGAD TBI reaffirm their commitment to research, innovation, and technology entrepreneurship. CPU collaborates with stakeholders nationwide to nurture technologies that empower industries, serve the public good, and contribute to sustainable development.
