On November 7, 2025, the Outreach Program Project LEAP Team poses with Badiang Elementary School teachers and Principal Mrs. Ann Paulette Adoracion during the first series workshop on Language Literacy and Reading Difficulty Intervention.

The Department of Languages, Mass Communication, and Humanities Outreach Program Project LEAP of the College of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center and the Office of Research, Extension, and Development, started the first of the three-series workshop on the Language Literacy and Reading Difficulty Intervention at Badiang Elementary School in New Lucena, Iloilo on November 7, 2025. This Outreach Project Leap – Literacy, English, Access, and Progress: A Service-Learning Program – aims to conduct lectures and hands-on workshops to train pupils and teachers to use proven reading techniques like practicing reading out loud and teaching word sounds correctly and effectively.

Prof. Kerwin Luntao engages participants with his innovative ideas and dynamic delivery during the literacy and reading workshop at Badiang Elementary School.

The Principal and Head Teacher of Badiang Elementary School, Mrs. Ann Paulette Adoracion, welcomed the Outreach Program Project Leap Team as spearheaded by the CESL Director Prof. Sarex Dalida, CAS Outreach Coordinator; Prof. Kerwin Luntao, DLMCH Outreach Coordinator; Prof. Rhys Camacho, alongside DLMCH Chair; Dr. Annalee Cocjin, Professors Gleason Parcia; Christie Ramos; and Jarrlyn Law Jaco. While the core team of DLMCH Chair carried out with their interviews with six Badiang Elementary Schol teachers as regards their styles and techniques in communicative competencies (reading, particularly), Professors Kerwin and Rhys delivered a brief lecture and fluency test among 8 fifth and 10 sixth graders simultaneously.

With the dynamic tutelage of Dr. Aries Roda Romallosa, Acting Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, this collaborative and concerted efforts to bolster the language proficiency and reading program of Badiang Elementary School can be inspiring and enduring amid the ever-changing pedagogical climate and challenges.
