Christine Jacar with her Decopot creations.
Decopot, an artistic response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, is the brainchild of Christine Jacar, a native of Balasan, Iloilo. Christine, a graduate of Central Philippine University high school batch 1991 and holder of an AB in Political Science from the same institution (batch 1996), is a self-taught and self-proclaimed artist, as well as a certified plantita. During the lockdown, planting became her therapeutic outlet, leading her to infuse her personal design into clay pots.
While also pursuing a career as a seafarer, Christine initially began her creative journey with clay pots and later transitioned to crafting concrete pots, personally molding each piece. Her innovative work has gained recognition through features in various fairs and publications across Iloilo, including events like Iloilo Pride Pyesta 2022, BPO Bazaar: Sagility, DTI Expo: Product Bazaar Quinto Distrito, DTI Iloilo: Balasan Success Story, Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Incorporated Exhibit, Philippine Creative Industries Month Exhibit, and UP Visayas Museum.
Decopot specializes in hand-painted pots suitable for both indoor and outdoor displays, offering a burst of color to any space. They provide customization options for colors and sizes based on customer preferences and can even incorporate a variety of plants from their own garden. Additionally, Decopot caters to event souvenirs and tokens and holds the distinction of being the official token provider for Lin-ay sang Iloilo 2023.
