Debate elimination round via Zoom.

The Central Philippine University Republic has already started hosting the CPUR Virtual Week with the theme: “L1M1TLESS Transcending Boundaries with Science and Faith”. This event aims to unleash and highlight the prowess and skills of the Centralian students through variety of contests and competitions. There are many activities and of these is the public speaking events spearheaded by CAS Representative Jeanine Marquez. Under the public speaking events are as follows; Extemporaneous speaking, Binalaybay, Oration and debate competition. One representative per local government unit were required to join the first three contest and one team per college for the debate competition shall participate.

The debate competition has already begun as other public speaking events shall follow. The debate competition’s elimination round took place in April 1, 2022. The results hailed teams from College of Arts and Sciences, College of Medicine, Junior high school, College of Education, Senior High School and College of Engineering as winning teams and passed the round to enter the Quarter Finals. These groups that carries the banner of their respective colleges will prove themselves worthy on the quarter finals. The last standing teams will fight at the battle of intellectual attack and defense in the Semi-finals only to produce the best remaining teams to carry on the Final round and one of them shall be declared as the Champion.

According to Miss Jeanine Marquez, the spearhead of the public speaking events, competitions like these are significant since communication is the backbone of any society. Giving an avenue to the students where they can showcase, hone and test their abilities are factors where institutions can produce eloquent and progressive individuals that will contribute greatly not only to oneself but also to the fields that they may end up in the future. The CPUR Virtual Week intends to unleash and harness the prowess of Centralian students since it is apparent that we have a lot to offer. These events also emphasize the fact that no pandemic could hinder us from transcending our abilities and boundaries with Science and Faith.
