Prof. Randy A. Lero, artistic director and adviser of the CPU Tumandok Dance Company, was honored as Outstanding Educator in Arts at the 2025 Manila International Dance Achievement Seal (MIDAS) Awards during MIDFest.

Prof. Randy A. Lero, artistic director and adviser of the Central Philippine University Tumandok Dance Company (CPUTDC), received one of the major awards during the 3rd Manila International Dance Festival (MIDFest 2025), held from September 18 to 21, 2025, in Intramuros, Manila.

Out of hundreds of participating dance directors, choreographers, and instructors, the Manila International Dance Achievement Seal (MIDAS) Awards named Prof. Lero as Outstanding Educator in Arts. Other awardees included former congressman and Manila Vice Mayor Yul Servo as Outstanding Dance Advocate, Douglas Nierras of the renowned Power dance group as an Important Personality in Dance, and the Bayanihan Dance Company as recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Dance.

“It was the first time for the Central Philippine University Tumandok Dance Company to join this kind of event, yet we were already included in the list of MIDFest as one of the most respected performing arts groups—not only in the Philippines but also among other countries that participated in this festival. I am deeply thankful to my former CPU Cultural Affairs director, Ms. Crista Huyong, for endorsing our letter; our beloved University President, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy; Acting CPU-VPAA Dr. Merle L. Junsay; CPU-VPFE Dr. Florence P. Bogacia; and CPU-VPSA Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, as well as the CPUTDC alumni and CPU community, for their love and support for Philippine culture. This trophy may be made of wood, but it carries with it great responsibility and a highly respectable title,” Prof. Lero shared.

He also added that, “For the past four days of events, the awarding body may have seen my personality as a dance director and adviser through our performances and the responsibilities entrusted to CPU Tumandok Dance Company during MIDFest.”
