The Central Philippine University (CPU) Rank and File Labor Union (CPURAFLU)–Federation of Free Workers (FFW) has been awarded a ₱1.5 million grant by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) under the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program. This marks a significant milestone as CPURAFLU–FFW becomes the pioneer union group from a private university to receive the said grant.
The ceremonial awarding of the check was held on January 13, 2026, at the DOLE Regional Office VI (RO6) in Iloilo City. The grant aims to support initiatives on livelihood development, food security, and economic sustainability, aligned with the national objectives of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program.
The check was formally received by Ms. Ma. Victoria G. Bellosillo, Union President, together with key union officers: Ms. Rona S. Sapio, Chair of the Board; Ms. Leonance E. Cataluña, Union Treasurer; and Ms. Ligaya Villarias-Caniel, Union Secretary.
This recognition highlights the strong collaboration between CPU and its labor union, underscoring their shared commitment to inclusive development and community-oriented programs. Being awarded as a union group further emphasizes the vital role of organized labor in advancing sustainable livelihood initiatives within the university and the wider community.
The ₱1.5 million DOLE grant is expected to strengthen the implementation of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo project at CPU, benefiting union members and stakeholders while contributing to the government’s efforts to promote accessible goods, livelihood support, and economic resilience.
CPURAFLU–FFW extends its sincere gratitude to Central Philippine University for its continued partnership and support, to DOLE RO6 for the trust and confidence extended to the union, and to the union leadership, particularly to Ms. Ma.
