The Central Philippine University Republic launched Project SENTRO last August 28-29 and September 1-2, 2025, at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park (APCP), transforming the university landmark into a supportive academic hub designed to help students prepare for their examinations.
Exam weeks are often described as one of the most stressful and challenging periods of the semester. Students juggle multiple subjects, long review hours, and the pressure of academic performance, which often takes a toll on both their mental and physical well-being. Recognizing this, the CPU Republic initiated Project SENTRO as a practical and timely intervention to ease the burden of students during this critical time.
Through the project, the APCP was converted into a study-friendly environment that prioritized both comfort and convenience. The space was equipped with designated study areas for both individual and group work, allowing students to either focus on their own lessons or collaborate with peers. Mobile charging stations were also provided to ensure that students could use their devices without interruption, while free refreshments such as coffee and candies offered a much-needed boost of energy throughout the day.
The project operated daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., encouraging students to take advantage of the conducive space before and in between their review sessions. Many took the opportunity to gather in study circles, exchange notes, and prepare for exams together, while others appreciated the quiet corners made available for independent learning.
Project SENTRO was spearheaded by Senator Ma. Theresa P. Magbanua, Minister for Organizations and Fraternities, in coordination with the CPU Republic. The project highlighted the Republic’s commitment to student welfare by providing practical resources that helped ease exam-related stress and promote a healthier learning environment.
The success of Project SENTRO underscores the importance of student-led initiatives that go beyond policies and governance, focusing instead on addressing the everyday needs of the student body.
