On October 24, 2025, the Central Philippine University Republic proudly carried out Project Luntian 2.0, an environmental initiative that reflected its unwavering dedication to sustainability and ecological restoration. Held at Barangay Dacutan, Dumangas, Iloilo, the project brought together students and partner organizations, all united by a shared goal—to take meaningful steps in protecting the planet and creating a more sustainable future.

Project Luntian 2.0 focused on mangrove planting and environmental awareness activities, which served as both a symbolic and practical effort to combat environmental degradation. Participants worked hand in hand to plant 500 mangrove seedlings, contributing not only to rehabilitation but also to the preservation of local biodiversity. The event also included educational discussions and community interactions that emphasized the importance of environmental responsibility in daily life.

The project directly supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13: Climate Action, Goal 14: Life Below Water, and Goal 15: Life on Land. By increasing green cover, Project Luntian 2.0 aids in reducing carbon dioxide levels and mitigating the impacts of climate change. The initiative also promotes proper waste management and pollution prevention, which help protect aquatic ecosystems and maintain the balance of life both on land and in water.

More than a one-day activity, Project Luntian 2.0 represents the university’s ongoing mission to integrate sustainability into its culture and practices. It serves as a reminder that even small acts—like planting a single tree—can contribute to global solutions for climate resilience and ecological preservation.

Through this endeavor, the university continues to champion environmental stewardship, inspiring students and partner organizations to be agents of change and to take active roles in achieving a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future for generations to come.
