Newly elected student leaders gather on stage following their official proclamation during the 2025 CPUR Elections Ceremony.

On May 8, 2025, the Central Philippine University Republic (CPUR) Commission on Elections (COMELEC) officially proclaimed the winners of the 2025 CPUR Elections during a formal ceremony held at the Rose Memorial Auditorium. The event, which ran from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, marked the culmination of the university’s student government electoral process, bringing together COMELEC members, candidates, students, and supporters to witness the official declaration of the newly elected leaders.

The ceremony opened with the solemn entrance of the COMELEC, followed by an invocation led by Commissioner Seanne Dominique Seria. Attendees then stood for the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater Song.

COMELEC Senior Commissioner Rachelle Sauquillo delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the significance of the proclamation more than a month after the elections. “This ceremony is a mirror of our democracy,” she said. She also called on the new leaders to govern with integrity, accountability, and genuine commitment, and encouraged the student body to approach the upcoming May 12 national midterm elections with the same critical mindset they exercised during the university elections.

Commissioner Megan Jimenez read the official resolution of the proclamation, citing Resolution No. 26-2025, which confirmed the Commission’s authority to canvass votes and proclaim winners for the national and local CPUR positions.

Following the reading of the resolution, the COMELEC formally proclaimed the winning candidates from various college governments, as well as the national officers of the CPUR. Jellian Precious J. Ganda was proclaimed President, while Collyn Maxie Rose T. Moscoso “Max,” was declared Vice President. The eight newly elected senators are Sam Isaac E. Alog, Bea May B. Altubar, Alexander Ernest P. Apostol “Ding”, John Roemm G. Carreon “Ro”, Reanna Gabrielle S. Guanzon, Jaylord F. Lampa “JL”, Ma. Theresa P. Magbanua, and Kirsten Lorraine D. Orleans.

Winners from the colleges of CAS, CBA, CCS, CHM, CMLS, COE, COED, COL, COM, CON, COP, COT, JHS, and SHS were also officially proclaimed during the ceremony.

COMELEC Chairperson Karl Louise Sondia closed the program with a heartfelt message to the newly elected officials and the entire university community. He reminded the officials of their responsibility as servants of the Republic, urging them to carry its colors with passion and purpose. He also expressed gratitude to the political parties, independent candidates, the Central Parliament, The Central Echo, the CPUR Supreme Court, and the Board of Election Inspectors for their support and dedication throughout the election period. Sondia concluded by encouraging students to take their democratic principles beyond campus and apply them when choosing national leaders.

“You are now servants of the Republic. Serve with passion, full commitment, and the determination to surpass your predecessors. To the public—trust in your officials and in the system. We are here solely because it is your will. Whether as officials or as citizens, let us all strive to bring glory to our University,” he said.

As the event came to a close with the exit of the COMELEC, applause filled the auditorium, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in student leadership. The proclamation ceremony not only celebrated the conclusion of the electoral process but also served as a reminder of the value of youth participation in governance—within the university and beyond.
