The CPUGAD TBI Team with CPU administrators during the first day of the Strategic Planning Activity.
CPUGAD Technology Business Incubator (TBI), a DOST-PCIEERD funded project, conducted a Strategic Planning Activity on August 6-7, 2024 at the Henry Luce III Library Conference Room, Central Philippine University.
The highlight of the Opening Program, held in the morning of August 7, was the Keynote Speech of Engr. Rowen Gelonga, Regional Director of DOST VI. In his speech, Engr. Gelonga emphasized the importance of having a university-based TBI as it gives faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders an avenue to develop their ideas into becoming commercially-viable business ventures that will contribute to strengthening the startup ecosystem in the region. He reminded the TBI Team to be inward looking and to determine the university’s “low-hanging fruit” to optimize the utilization of the university’s facilities. He also spoke about the valuable contribution of research and development in hastening the country’s economic growth.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ernest Howard Dagohoy, President of CPU, and all the four Vice Presidents (Dr. Irving Domingo Rio, VP for Academic Affairs; Dr. Florence Bogacia, VP for Finance and Enterprises; Engr. Dany Molina, VP for Administration; and Dr. Esther Rose Romarate, VP for Student Affairs) declared their commitment to support CPUGAD TBI in all its endeavors.

Ms. Raisheine Joyce Arcillas of the Iloilo Science and Technology Office of DOST VI and Ms. Shariz Rose Garrino of UMWAD Western Visayas shared about partnership opportunities which CPUGAD TBI can tap.
The Team then engaged in various activities such as SWOT analysis, goal setting, and brainstorming for action plans, risk management, and mentoring and evaluation initiatives for the rest of the two-day event.
The CPUGAD TBI, which officially began its operations in July 2024, is CPU’s contribution to the achievement of the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations: SDG 1 (no poverty); SDG 2 (zero hunger); SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities); and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production). The CPUGAD TBI Facility is located on the ground floor of the Engineering Building.
