The CPU Development High School (CPUDHS) class of 1983 held a dedication ceremony for the covered walkway beside the Junior High School Building, a Legacy Project of the class, to start off their 40th Reunion on June 23, 8:30 A.M.
On behalf of CPU President Teodoro C. Robles, Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, CPU Vice President for Student Affairs, and member of the CPUDHS class of 1983 welcomed her batchmates who came from different parts of the country and the world. Atty. Suzette A. Mamon, CPUDHS ’83 president and mayor of Badiangan, Iloilo, formally turned over the project to the JHS Principal, Prof. Charlett B. Dianala who expressed appreciation and gratitude for the donation which she believes will benefit the Junior High School.
After Pastor Lloyd U. Basco, assistant principal, dedicated the covered walkway to God in prayer, the ribbon was cut by Prof. Dianala and Atty. Mamon assisted by CPUAAI President, Atty. Jeremy Bionat, CPUVPSA, Dr. Romarate and the coordinators of the Legacy Project, Mrs. May Divinagracia Hively and Mr. Apollo Hilado. A reception followed at the EMC Conference where HS Batch 1983 honored some of their former teachers who were present – their Chemistry teacher, Mrs. Evelina Buenafe; their English teacher, Mrs. Emelyn Jamerlan; and their Physiscs teacher, Mr. Jerry Madayag.
To further celebrate their Ruby Reunion, on the same day, June 23, CPUDHS 1983 had a gala night at the JR Hall, Diversion 21 with Dr. Nelson Pomado, their former Filipino teacher as speaker. On June 24, they all gathered for fun and fellowship at Villa Azul, Oton, Iloilo.
