The Central Philippine University Tumandok Dance Company held its 4th annual International Cultural Exchange Program in Osaka and Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, from February 17 to 25, 2026.
The group was invited by the Kawachinagano International Friendship Association and, with the support of the Osaka in the World Committee, comprised 14 student dancers from junior high to college levels, along with their adviser and artistic director, Asst. Prof. Randy Lero.
On the first day of the program, the group had a courtesy call and an open forum with the city mayor and other city officials. They also conducted a dance workshop and a short performance, attended Japanese and English language classes in different schools, and showcased dances from their Saludo Sais concert, with the Vice Chairman of Japan Foreign Affairs and a member of the House of Representatives as the guest of honor.
The group introduced the university through a CPU AVP during the International Rotary Club conference in five other locations in Osaka and Wakayama, presenting certificates to the five club presidents.
Asst. Prof. Lero demonstrated how to cook Filipino chicken adobo after a dance workshop for Japanese parents and children during a program called “Halo-Halo (English and Dance): Bridging Cultures Through Rhythm and Language.”
He added, “I really appreciated the support of our University President, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, for all the prayers, love, and encouragement; to the Cultural Affairs Office; and to the CPU community for supporting Saludo Sais. I hope this exchange program will continue every year as part of my contribution to my beloved alma mater.”
