CPU SHS students were awarded academic and non-academic awards during their EXCELlence Program.
EXCELlence in all aspects – Central Philippine University Senior High School (SHS) held its Excellence Awards Ceremony for the Academic and Non-Academic awardees on June 21, 2023, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium.
The awards were given to Senior High School students who excelled in their academic performance as a result of their consistent ratings above the rest in their levels. The awards also recognized students – who garnered medals, and trophies and were champions and participants in institutional socio-cultural and sports competitions; bringing honor and pride to the university and the CPU SHS Department.
Irving Domingo L. Rio, DMgt, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered his opening remarks acknowledging the guests, thanked the parents, and congratulated the Senior High School academic and non-academic awardees. He encouraged the students to “embrace discipline in our pursuit of success. He defined discipline as a cornerstone of accomplishment, and challenged the awardees to cross the bridge of discipline that connects dreams to reality.”
This year’s Excellence Awards speaker is Ms. Ingrid Vale B. Saquibal, SHS alumna batch 2018, the pioneering batch of K-12. She is a registered Medical Technologist who graduated Cum Laude from the CPU College of Medical Technology in 2022 and was the recipient of the Alton Bigelow Memorial Award.
In her message, Saquibal said, “We grew up in the generation of social media so that we are confronted daily by real and make-believe challenges in the internet. But we have to learn how to love challenges.” She asked the awardees to not be afraid of challenges. “If you fall, then let the ‘rock-bottom’ be your foundation.”
The awards for HUMSS, ABM, and Stem and non-academic awards ensued where students together with their parents received their distinctions.
The CPU SHS also held their Dedication Service in the morning of June 22, 2023, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, and 6th Commencement Exercises S.Y. 2022-2023 in the afternoon, at the University Gymnasium whereby Hon. Meliza Joan Perez Berano-Robite, Presiding Judge, Branch 2, Municipal Trial Court in Cities, Iloilo City and the Acting Presiding Judge, MTC, Oton, Iloilo served as the graduation inspirational speaker.
