“It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.” – In view of the inevitable disasters resulting to casualty, the CPU SAR (Search and Rescue) Team with the NSTP and ROTC Faculty underwent training and retraining on Collapse Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR), Firefighting and Fire Search and Rescue (FSAR), High Rise Search and Rescue with Rappelling Techniques (Standard, Australian, Lizard Rappelling) on May 23-25, 2023 at Central Philippine University. The training was sponsored by NSTP and the CPU Review, Continuing Education and Consultancy Center (RCECC),

CPU Occupational Safety and Health Office (OSHS) head, Prim Vergara III, who has undergone this kind  of training in Australia, said that, “The training provided participants an exercise on skill and preparedness in emergency search and rescue – particularly with first responders.”

A simulation of rappelling technique in the SAR was held at the Loreto D. Tupaz Building. The simulation began with locating, stabilizing and getting the victim out of danger. A volunteer ‘victim’ then was brought down with a suspender held by other training participants from the fourth floor of the said building.

The CPU Occupational Safety and Health Office has previously conducted various training sessions with the Department of Interior and Local Government, Red Cross and other government agencies.
