On March 3, 2026, the Central Philippine University Research Ethics Review Board (CPU RERB) hosted a benchmarking activity for the Capiz State University – Research Ethics Review Committee at the RERB Conference Room, located on the 4th floor of the Henry Luce III Library.

Nine members of the Capiz State University committee participated in the activity, which aimed to provide insights into the structure, processes, and best practices of the CPU RERB.

The program opened with a prayer led by Dr. Renia F. Dela Peña, Vice Chairman of the Research Ethics Committee. Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, Acting Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, warmly welcomed the delegates from Capiz State University, expressing appreciation for their visit and highlighting the importance of working together to strengthen ethical research practices.

Dr. Joy G. Raso, Chairman of the Research Ethics Committee, presented an overview of CPU RERB operations. Her discussion covered the organizational structure, general process flow, University Research Committee-funded research flow, best practices for protocols and informed consent forms, protocol evaluation forms, honoraria and deloading, and strategies for efficient service delivery.

Following the presentation, members of the Capiz State University committee raised questions, including inquiries on how CPU RERB recruits potential members. The questions were addressed by Dr. Dela Peña, Dr. Romallosa, Dr. Raso, Dr. Raymund Partisala, Medical Scientist and Primary Reviewer, and Dr. Armando Hisuan, Social Scientist and Primary Reviewer.
