CPU Republic convened with the university’s Vice President for Finance and Enterprise and Vice President for Administration for a meeting.
In a move to address the increasing heat index and various student concerns, CPU Republic, the student government of Central Philippine University, convened with the university’s Vice President for Finance and Enterprise and Vice President for Administration on May 1, 2024.
The meeting, which involved the CPU Republic President, Prime Minister, Vice President, and League of Governors (LOG), aimed to find solutions to mitigate the heat and improve the overall
student experience.
The CPU Republic, through the LOG, had gathered student feedback on specific areas of concern. A major point of discussion was the proposal to increase air conditioning units in various buildings across campus, including Engineering, LEB, Mary Thomas, Johnson, Old Valentine, Loreto D. Uy, Lifestyle, the 4th Floor of the Elementary Building, Ancheta Hall, LHB, New Valentine, and the University Gym.
However, the conversation went beyond temperature control. Student representatives presented a broader range of issues impacting the student body, including facilities, infrastructure, road and safety measures, learning materials, fee regulations, student council offices, and water access.
The meeting fostered a collaborative environment where both student representatives and university administration openly discussed potential solutions. While details of specific actions were not disclosed, it’s clear that CPU Republic’s proactive approach, coupled with the administration’s willingness to listen, has paved the way for a more comfortable and well-rounded learning environment for CPU students.
