Central Philippine University Republic (CPUR) has been hailed as an Outstanding Club for UNESCO for 2024 in the College Level, Education Category. This prestigious recognition was announced on the official Facebook page of UNESCO Clubs Philippines last July 30, 2024.
Out of 250 accredited Clubs for UNESCO in 2023, CPU Republic stood out for its exceptional commitment to excellence. The National Commission for UNESCO in the Philippines (NCBUCP) Awards Committee lauded the club’s programs and projects implemented last year, which demonstrably align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
“Being an outstanding club for UNESCO signifies the Republic’s unwavering commitment to anchor our programs for the advancement of education, science, and culture within and outside the halls of the university,” CPU Republic said.
The club highlighted Project E-MODYOL (Environmental Movement for the Development of Our Young Learners) as a key initiative during their application. This project exemplifies CPU Republic’s dedication to both SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Through Project E-MODYOL, the club’s League of Governors gathers used tarpaulins from university and national elections and transforms them into tote bags for young learners. Additionally, they collect reusable paper for the production of educational modules.
CPU Republic is invited to attend the awarding ceremony slated for November 29 to December 1, 2024, at the City State Asturias Hotel-Palawan in Puerto Princesa City. This ceremony will be held in conjunction with the International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO. Registration for the assembly can be done through the UNESCO Clubs Philippines website: https://www.unescoclubsph.org/youth-4-unesco-2024.
This recognition serves as a testament to CPU Republic’s exceptional work in promoting education, environmental responsibility, and sustainable practices. It is a significant achievement for the club and a source of pride for Central Philippine University.
