The participants to the APA 7th Form Seminar.

Central Philippine University Review and Continuing Education and Consultancy Center (RCECC) held an online seminar-workshop for researchers and technical editors via Zoom on April 6, 2022. The aim of the seminar was to provide new updates in thesis and dissertation writing in accordance with the APA 7th edition.

The program started at 9:00 AM with an invocation led by Dr. Rachel Polec-eo, and followed by the playing of Philippine National Anthem. Ms. Althea U. Denuevo (Graduate School) hosted the program.

School of Graduate Studies Dean Dr. Rowena M. Libo-on welcomed the participants and acknowledged the RCECC’s part in organizing the needed Seminar-Workshop. She mentioned the important role of RCECC Director Dr. Lenny Rose Mucho, and the Chairman of the Business Department of the Graduate School Dr. Carmen Hernandez.

The Resource Speaker, Dr. Lucio T. Encio, MBA, U.P, PhD Major in Educational Management, U.I. is a Certified Public Accountant and Director of Research Planning of the University of Iloilo; former Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy, University of San Agustin, and Adviser to many research projects.

The specific objective of the seminar-workshop according to Encio was “To gain competent knowledge and skills on the APA 7th Form and Style and Citations in the textual presentation of reference list entries in the required research for books and publications.” He added that, “There is a need to demonstrate competent skills in correcting and revising research manuscripts – with understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the researchers and technical editors.
Prior to academic years 2021-2022, CPU embraced the research form and style, reference citation and formatting in accordance with APA 6th Edition, as published in its research manual.
The participants were updated on the new format and were given exercises (observations of what needs to be corrected in the sample research proposals) in a power point presentation. Encio encouraged the participants to ask questions regarding standard rules and clarification on practice.

The seminar workshop was attended by representatives from different academic departments Unit Heads, Editors and mentoring professors.
