The Philippine Society of Software Engineers (PSSE) held Tax ng Bayan: A Simple Guide to Philippine Taxation on March 4, 2026, at the Engineering Building of Central Philippine University. The seminar gathered Software Engineering students to learn about the fundamentals of Philippine taxation and its relevance to future technology professionals.

During the session, participants explored key tax concepts and how they apply to common career paths in the tech industry. The discussion covered scenarios such as employment, freelancing, startups, and participation in the digital economy, helping students understand how taxation influences income, compliance, and responsible professional practice.

The seminar featured Romel Patingan, CPA, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of BS Accountancy in 2023 and Chief Financial Officer of Jon Tiam Suy Corporation. He simplified complex tax principles and explained how financial awareness and tax compliance play important roles in professional and business environments.

The activity highlighted the importance of understanding financial systems alongside technical skills, reminding participants that knowledge of taxation is essential for navigating careers, managing income, and fulfilling professional responsibilities.
